甜蜜承諾 九妹感動
劉醒與九妹在醫院的草地閒聊，討論死的感覺，劉醒指當一個人走到人生盡頭，最慘的是與親人分離，九妹指上天早已安排好一切，只是未知她離世時，有誰會在天堂等自己，劉醒笑謂若自己先死，一定在天堂等候她，九妹感動不已。
劉晴要求出院，返豬籠里途中在楊陽的懷抱中安然離世。楊陽為劉晴舉辦追悼會，朗讀亡妻撰寫的日記……
大鳳慘死 朗喜落難
九妹到醫院探望朗軍，未進入病房已聽見麗華與朗軍正在爭執，原來朗軍不滿麗華每天只顧逛街，未有到來陪伴自己，埋怨要坐在輪椅度日，九妹安慰父親。
九妹為快爆發內戰的事向劉醒了解，又打算與胡老闆合辦農民銀行，促進廣州的經濟。九妹以「生要見人，死要見屍」之約定請劉醒合作，他表示會聽從她的吩咐。
朗喜返回廣州，向九妹透露少康在上海開設鴉片煙館，誰知因解放而被封舖，資產被沒收。少康帶著她與大鳳坐船逃難時，卻遭受襲擊，大鳳慘死，只好向九妹借錢，九妹拒絕借錢，以免助長少康為惡。
亂民硬闖 九妹受傷
劉醒得悉新政府的暗殺名單，立刻前往保護九妹，兩人在教堂見面時遭受突襲，劉醒邀九妹與他一同離開廣州去美國。
少康到鄭家發難，更拔槍相向，指嚇朗軍和九妹借錢……當朗軍平定少康後，大批亂民硬闖鄭家，意圖殺漢奸強搶金條，九妹以手榴彈唬嚇亂民但不果，反而被他們打傷，幸得劉醒及時趕來鎮壓……
