It was the worst day for the stock market since 2020 as investors absorbed the potential impact of an escalating trade war. NBC News' Christine Romans reports on how the Trump administration is defending its efforts to remake the global economy. President Trump said that his sweeping tariffs on imports are designed to boost American companies that make products in the U.S. But for many popular brands that import their products from overseas, prices could rise. NBC News' Brian Cheung reports. Police say a high school student in Texas fatally stabbed another student, 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, in the heart at a school track meet. Metcalf's twin brother reportedly held the teen as he died. NBC News' Priscilla Thompson has the latest on the investigation. For parents, having a child be admitted to the hospital can make a stressful situation even worse. In many cases, kids need extra care, but some of it can be done at home. Nearly three dozen reported tornadoes left widespread damage in a region already battered by storms. Officials say the severe weather threat isn't over yet as multiple counties in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee are at risk for severe flooding. NBC News' Kathy Park reports from the storm zone. The Pentagon's inspector general will investigate whether Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth used the encrypted commercial app Signal to discuss classified information about a military strike in Yemen. Hegseth and other administration officials have denied any classified information was mentioned. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez reports. In North Carolina, Atrium Health expanded its Hospital Home program to include pediatrics. They say it doesn't cost any extra, and the results are better. NBC News' Anne Thompson has the story. The people who rescued and helped heal Lenny the loggerhead turtle believe he was attacked by a shark that left him with a badly damaged flipper. But after some much needed time at The Turtle Hospital, it was all smiles as Lenny was brought back to the water. NBC News' George Solis reports from the reef.
