The purported pitch from Lightning Shared Scooter Company, or LSSC, was simple. Invest in a scooter in Asia and make easy money. As people signed up to invest, they brought in friends and family. But the Better Business Bureau says it was all a ‘pyramid scheme' and Americans across the country collectively lost millions. NBC News' Anne Thompson reports. Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook said she will sue to try and keep her job after President Trump announced he was firing her. Trump accused her of mortgage fraud. NBC News' Garrett Haake reports. The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine say in his final weeks of life, the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot had become a substitute for human companionship. They are suing the company behind ChatGPT, OpenAI, and its CEO Sam Altman, saying they bear responsibility for their son's death. In Isle of Palm, South Carolina, officials say a ride-share vehicle accidentally drove into a creek. Two good samaritans rushed to help pull the driver from the sinking car.
