Hurricane Melissa made landfall in New Hope, Jamaica as a powerful Category 5 storm. Melissa pummeled the island with 185 mile per hour winds and torrential rain. Officials say some 25,000 tourists are stranded in Jamaica. NBC News' George Solis reports. Air traffic controllers are the latest government workers to miss a paycheck, even as they stay on the job. The FAA reported another three thousand delays due to air traffic control staffing shortages. NBC News' Tom Costello reports. It was a case that shocked the country - a 6-year-old student shooting former teacher Abigail Zwerner. Today was the start of that 40 million dollar civil trial. Zwerner alleges a former assistant principal ignored warnings that day. NBC News' Stephanie Gosk reports. Israel launched retaliatory strikes inside Gaza after accusing Hamas of violating President Trump's ceasefire deal. Israel said that Hamas fired on its troops earlier in the day. NBC News' Matt Bradley reports. Police said a suspect stole an ambulance – with a paramedic and patient inside – in an attempt to flee officers. NBC News' Sam Brock reports. In a memo that also described artificial intelligence as "the most transformative technology we've seen since the Internet," Amazon said it is "staying nimble" as changes come to the workforce.
