Over the next two weeks, cardinals from across the globe will descend on Vatican City and the process will begin to choose a new pope. The 135 cardinals under the age of 80 are eligible to vote. The cardinals will be shut off from the outside world. NBC News' Molly Hunter has more from Rome. President Trump called Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell a "major loser" on social media and pressed him to lower interest rates, raising concerns about the central bank's independence. NBC's Christine Romans reports. At Orlando International Airport, a Delta plane at full capacity was evacuated. Officials say an engine caught fire after the aircraft pushed back from the gate for departure. Passengers evacuated down emergency slides. There were no reports of injuries. NBC News' Tom Costello has the story. Two sources tell NBC News Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared information about a strike in Yemen on a Signal group chat that included his wife and brother. NBC News' Kelly O'Donnell reports it comes after several Trump administration officials came under fire for their use of a different Signal group chat to discuss military operations. The Vatican announced the death of Pope Francis, who died at the age of 88 just one day after the leader of the Catholic church made a surprise Easter appearance. NBC News' Lester Holt reports on the historic life and impact Pope Francis had on the church and the world. Harvard University has sued the Trump administration, saying its move to freeze federal funding for the school is unconstitutional. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez reports President Trump is also criticizing the courts for pausing some of his deportation plans. During his papacy, Pope Francis championed the needs of children around the world with humility and sincerity.
