Lynn Holt, a family law attorney in L.A., starts to rebuild her life and career, after her law partner-husband leaves her and takes the firm with him.

Damages
Lynn represents a couple who are suing a doctor for not telling them their child would have Down syndrome; Danni takes a divorce case in which the husband claims his wife is addicted to sex; Randi reveals a disturbing aspect of her past.

All God's Creatures
A white woman who married a black man tries to gain sole custody of her two children because their white father is teaching them to be racists; an old flame of Danni's seeks her help; Rex represents a man who was hit by a chunk of a beached whale that was exploded.

Prisoners
Randi defends a prison guard accused of raping a woman in her cell; Lynn represents a 17-year-old actor who wants to divorce his teen bride of three months; and Danni is upset that she kissed a client and may have broken up his marriage.

The List
A detective friend of Lynn's seeks her help to have his troubled 15-year-old daughter committed to a mental hospital after finding a list she made of people she'd like to see dead. Meanwhile, Danni tells Don their affair is over, then stumbles upon a surprising office romance.

The Nanny
A deceased woman's parents try to gain custody of their granddaughter, after the girl's nanny is named as her guardian; an elderly actor sues a reporter for libel because he wrote an article stating the aging thespian was dead; Rex comes to the aid of his schizophrenic brother after he lands in jail.

Games
Lynn tries to prevent an immigrant, who is married with three children, from being deported back to Afghanistan because he lied on his application; Rex takes a case in which parents want a soccer game replayed because of an alleged bad call; and Randi and Andres are at odds over an old client of Randi's.

The Fourth Trimester
Danni represents a wealthy basketball player who claims he was tricked into getting a woman pregnant; Lynn tries to get a deadbeat client to pay his bill; and a fugitive involved in a government bombing 30 years ago seeks Rex's help to come out of hiding.

Holt vs. Holt
Lynn and Michael compete with each other in a case involving a woman who claims she was fired because she has cancer. Meanwhile, Rex defends a teen thief who is incredibly inept at robbery, much to the chagrin of his dad, a professional thief.

Four Drops of Blood
Rex tries to help a single mother---who was accused but not convicted of shaking her infant son to death---regain custody of her 3-year-old daughter; Randi represents a dog who was fired from being a company's mascot because he's too old; and Lynn, desperate for new clients, solicits business at a playground and at her gym.

Decisions
Lynn is chosen by friends to be the arbitrator in a case involving their 8-year-old son who is dying from AIDS---the father wants him to take further medication, while the mother doesn't want to put him through any more suffering. Meanwhile, Danni's father hits a pedestrian and flees the scene; and Rex makes a commercial.

Media Relations
Rex defends a 10-year-old boy accused of murdering a 9-year-old girl for her bicycle; Randi helps a man who claims his wife tried to kill him and placed a hex on him; and Danni discovers that Don's former fiancée is pregnant.

Human Error
A friend of Rex's tries to regain custody of his 7-year-old daughter after he's released from prison for killing the child's mother; Viveca becomes Rex's associate and defends a famous college quarterback accused of illegally parking in a handicapped parking space.

Stealing Home
Lynn represents a mother who kidnapped her 4-year-old daughter two years ago to keep her away from the child's father, who allegedly molested her. Now, the mom wants to work out a deal to have criminal charges against her dropped. Meanwhile, Danni defends a hairdresser who is being sued for refusing to cut a woman's hair.

A Mother's Son
A 17-year-old boy with a suspected genetic disorder pleads guilty to raping and murdering a girl at a party, then the victim's mother sues his parents for "negligent parenting." Meanwhile, a man tries to get $1 million from his ex-wife because she won a lottery while they were still married but she didn't tell him about it; Danni's dad starts hanging around the office, much to her dismay.

Are You My Father?
A woman, who used to be a man, tries to get joint custody of her daughter. Meanwhile, a minister is accused by a woman of fathering her deceased sister's 5-year-old son.

Metamorphosis
Rex's wife stuns him when she suddenly appears and demands he pay her more money each month; Randi's daughter refuses to see her because Randi killed her father; Lynn tries desperately to reunite a mother and her 6-year-old son, but red tape keeps getting in the way.

Necessity
A friend of Danni's is arrested for kidnapping an 8-year-old boy being abused by his parents; Rex defends a 78-year-old woman who is accused of bringing drugs into the U.S. illegally; Cassie tries to get her parents back together for her birthday.

Playing God
Danni represents a divorced mother who wants to send her 6-year-old son to a Buddhist school in Bhutan, against the father's wishes; Lynn defends a woman who pays drug addicts to be sterilized; and Michael makes Lynn a generous offer in their ongoing divorce settlement.

The Witness
Danni defends the office's cleaning lady, who spent and invested money that a bank mistakenly transferred to her account; Randi represents a teen who claims he was framed by police in an effort to coerce him to testify against his criminal brother.

Second Chance
Danni defends a former kiddie-show host for the ownership of his beloved puppet sidekick; Lynn becomes involved in a nasty divorce; Randi is suspected of a D.U.I. when she reacts badly in a traffic accident.

Love and Money
Randi tries to keep a 12-year-old girl from being taken away from her mentally challenged parents; Danni represents a woman who wants to stop her husband from giving away their money to the poor; Lynn starts seeing Michael again.

Possession is Nine Tenths of the Law
Lynn defends a priest who is accused of attempted murder, but the priest claims the victim's wounds were caused by the devil during an exorcism; Andres is arrested for allegedly violating the Immigration and Nationality Act by entering into a sham marriage to obtain a green card.
