Episodes

Ur kurs
An exciting satirical series about when the Soviet submarine U 137 ran aground at Sweden's most secret naval base in the fall of 1981 and the whole world held its breath. A major war threatens and all responsibility now rests on one man, Sweden's Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin. How will he manage to prevent a world war, with a saintly foreign minister and a belligerent commander-in-chief at his side?

Håll gränsen
Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin quickly heads down to Stockholm and the Government Office, where he gathers representatives from the government and the military. Meanwhile, the situation for Captain Peskov and his crew is becoming increasingly desperate. Commander-in-Chief Börje Lagercrantz believes that Sweden is under attack and that the solution is a counterattack. Captain Peskov receives orders from the Kremlin to blow up the submarine if the Swedes try to get on board.

Tyst diplomati
In Karlskrona, commander-in-chief Börje Lagercrantz and second-in-command Håkan Martinsson plan to approach the submarine on their own to measure whether there are nuclear weapons on board. To help them, they have an expert from the Defense Research Institute. The Commander-in-Chief appoints the Coast Hunters' Coast Hunter, Captain Hammarberg, to lead the unsanctioned operation. At the same time, Captain Peskov is getting worse and worse and threatens to blow up the submarine if the Swedes approach it.

O kapten, min kapten
Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin meets the Soviet ambassador Aleksandra Kosygina. It turns out that their plan to have a radio mast installed on the submarine is thwarted by Commander-in-Chief Lagercrantz, who has exactly the same plan, but with completely different purposes. In the Kremlin, the frail chairman Brezhnev finds it increasingly difficult to manage the situation, but receives unexpected help from the KGB's Yuri Andropov.

Kalla kriget
Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin visits the naval base in Karlskrona where he is met by an unexpected international press gathering. At home in Stockholm, Foreign Minister Ola Ullsten is confronted by both the KGB and the CIA in connection with a state visit to Dramaten. Everyone seems to know more than just the foreign minister. When Prime Minister Fälldin learns that the submarine is armed with nuclear weapons, everything is put to the extreme.

Hem ljuva hem
Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin holds a press conference at the Government Office in Stockholm. When he informs that the submarine is armed with nuclear weapons, the world holds its breath. Can the Prime Minister and the Soviet Ambassador work together to resolve the Gordian Knot through diplomacy? And will they manage to free the submarine before the Russian fleet under the leadership of Admiral Kalinin, NATO or, for that matter, Commander-in-Chief Börje Lagercrantz, do?

The Ministry of Time
The Ministry of Time, a newly established government department, is gathering ‘expats' from across history in an experiment to test the viability of time-travel. Commander Graham Gore (an officer on Sir John Franklin's doomed 1845 Arctic expedition) is one such figure rescued from certain death – alongside an army captain from the fields of the Somme, a plague victim from the 1600s, a widow from revolutionary France, and a soldier from the seventeenth century.
The expats are placed with 21st century liaisons, known as 'bridges', in unlikely flatshares. Gore has to learn about contemporary life from scratch: from air travel to industrial warfare, from feminism to Spotify, from cinema to indoor plumbing; and he must negotiate cohabiting with the ambitious modern woman who works as his bridge. After an awkward beginning, the pair start to find pleasure and comfort in each other's company, developing a relationship that is simultaneously tender, intense and profoundly unprofessional; and the expats, adrift in a new era, form friendships that ground and support them in the lonely 21st century, where they have outlived everyone they ever knew and loved.
When a deeper conspiracy at the Ministry begins to reveal itself, the bridge must reckon with what she does next. Will she save or sacrifice the exiled misfits she has come to care for so deeply?
