It's a fresh new term, and a brand new family arrive at Waterloo Road. They immediately shake things up both in and out of the classroom. Dominant and forward-thinking, Vaughan Fitzgerald has all the makings of the dynamic headteacher the school needs, while his confident partner Allie takes the reins of the art department. But their professional veneer just might be tested as their warring children's behaviour threatens to spill out into the classroom.

Christine vows to help Darren with his desperate situation at home but neither are prepared for the shocking scene that awaits when they try to confront his mother. George has been bled dry by Carol over the summer and pledges to make a change. He soon finds out why no one messes with a Barry and gets away with it.

It's the launch of Waterloo Road's big community initiative and Vaughan is desperate for the day to go without a hitch. But with Lisa and Shaznay causing mischief and tensions with George at boiling point, can the new head pull it off?

Rhiannon takes pride in the virtual-baby project, but Darren can't understand why she is taking it so seriously. Carol spots an opportunity to exploit the school when she fakes an injury, but will Vaughan see through her scheming ways?

Gabriella Wark returns to school to find some students determined to make her life difficult. Hector finds an ally in Sue, while Allie feels unnerved as Vaughan and the boys get ready to visit Olga on her birthday.

Lenny is determined to do whatever it takes to get the grades he needs for university, but will the pressure of mock exams prove to be too much? Allie uncovers a secret which forces Vaughan to make a big decision.

After Justin sees a boy shoplifting, he takes matters into his own hands and tries to help. When his actions don't get the response he was expecting, things spiral out of control. Simon and Sue's dinner party goes badly wrong after Hector speaks out of turn.

The police descend on Waterloo Road as the hack on Wiredata Systems is traced to the school. Floyd confronts Tiffany and Justin about their relationship, and Sonya's magazine story causes trouble around the school.

Allie convinces Vaughan to send Justin to a boarding school in an attempt to keep him away from Tiffany but the young lovers have plans of their own. Darren isn't happy when Rhiannon considers a career as a plus size model.

A neglected Leo finds solace in new girl Mandy but soon finds there is more to her than meets the eye. Sue finds herself in hot water when Hector threatens to tell Simon about their affair.

Vaughan goes to the police after Justin punches Allie, making a decision that could affect Justin's entire future. Darren arranges a surprise for Grace but she's not too happy about it.

It's a new term and Waterloo Road is under threat, as the council wants to merge it with Havelock High. But Vaughan is ready for battle, and his plan involves volatile new pupils Kenzie and Scott. Now all he's got to do is let the staff in on his radical strategy.

It's the start of Waterloo Road's new bike bank scheme, which Vaughan hopes will show the school off to the community. But Scott Fairchild has other ideas and it's Kevin who suffers the consequences. Christine and Lorna fight over who should lead the new PTA.

Vaughan's newly-qualified teachers Marco and Guy start work, but it's not long before Guy recognises Carrie Norton and the school comes down heavily on their relationship. Christine's plan to keep Audrey's smothering at bay backfires on her, while Sonya is forced to reveal a very private secret.

A science trip to the coast sees Kenzie stuck in a group with Bonnie, Scott and Justin. The foursome is forced to band together when an argument leads to a dangerous situation. Guy gets too involved in Carrie's love life, while Christine tries to get her pals back.

With the PTA off for a visit to Havelock High, Vaughan thinks his only worry is Steph Norton. When Havelock are invited back to Waterloo Road, there are erotic novels, exploding science labs and cyber bullying to try and keep from their sight.

It's mock exam week and the pressure is on for everyone, but for Dale it's all about a bike trial which could change his life. Kenzie has had it with her mother and makes a drastic life change, while Abdul gets more than he bargained for during a science project.

Dale struggles to come to terms with his failure to make the cycling team and looks to find his adrenalin rush elsewhere. Hassan ties himself in knots when Ronnie comes asking questions, leading to a drastic decision. Kenzie finds herself caught between Scott and Justin, but who will win?

Dale's erratic behaviour reaches new heights and it's up to Lenny and Maggie to pick up the pieces. Abdul meets his mum, but it's not as he expected. The school gets a heads-up about a surprise inspection, but will the preparation be enough to save it?

Vaughan is torn between campaigning to stop the merger and Justin's exclusion. Things take an unexpected turn when Kenzie gets involved, while Lorna reveals a buried secret when someone from her past turns up. Sonya discovers something about Guy that sets her own lie onto a different course.

It's the day of the consultation - Waterloo Road's final chance to stop the school merging with Havelock High. But with no headmaster to be seen and a mystery surrounding the council's real plans for the school, it's up to the kids to take charge of saving Waterloo Road.
