"Ungdommen nu til dags" klarer ikke å snakke korrekt norsk. De uttaler kj- og ky-lyder som "skj-" eller "sch-". Men er det så farlig? Uansett har Petter W. Schjerven løsningen, den splitter nye bokstaven som har fått navnet "Kjell". På 1950-tallet snakket man saktere enn i dag, det er faktisk bevist. Før i tiden kunne stortingsreferentene få med seg alle ordene i talene, nå er det en komplett umulig oppgave. Noen stortingsrepresentanter er verre enn andre. Språket er som kjent i utvikling. Nye ord oppstår, og gamle ord forsvinner. Er det likevel mulig å si når norsk var på sitt aller beste? Aldri har norsk vært bedre enn i 1959. Hva er årsaken til det? Både de lærde og de mindre lærde har hatt sterke meninger om hvordan man skal telle. Noen mener det er best med ti'erne først, mens andre hevder at en'erne først er det eneste saliggjørende. Diskusjonen har nådd flere høyder, som igjen har toppet seg med nokså radikale forslag til måter å telle på. Eller hva sies om "totito" for 22?
