January: Don't Get Cocky
Yamatonokami no Yasusada has manifested as the 17th member of the Sword Warriors in a "certain citadel". On his first morning since coming to the citadel he goes on a walk around the compound with Kashuu Kiyomitsu who shared the same former master, Okita Souji of the Shinsengumi. The Sword Warriors, who enjoy daily life at the citadel with snowball fights and the like, have received word from the history government...

February: There's Nothing I Want to Say...
Doudanuki Masakuni and Tsurumaru Kuninaga have manifested. Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu are showing the two of them around the citadel. Meanwhile, Heshikiri Hasebe, Souza Samonji and Yagen Toushirou, three swords with ties to Oda Nobunaga are given dispatch orders to Honnouji.

March: It's One in Ten Thousand
Hirano Toushirou has found a four-leaf clover of good luck underneath the big tree. He intends to give it to Uguisumaru, who has just arrived at the citadel, but while he is on his way he encounters a number of obstacles making his task not so easy. Meanwhile, the Awataguchi tantou's are underneath the big tree thinking about the older brother who has not yet manifested. Knowing their wishes, Yamatonokami Yasusada is thinking of a plan.

April: What is Strength?
Izuminokami Kanesada has manifested. Horikawa Kunihiro, who is the beloved sword of the same former master of the Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshizou, is pleased and immediately begins showing him around the citadel. Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu are also happy to be reunited with Izuminokami no Kanesada and they enjoy reminiscing about the Shinsengumi. Meanwhile, the ten thousand leaf cherry tree is in full bloom. The sword warriors enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms underneath the tree but trouble brews when Jiroutachi ends up drunk...

May: Kindness is Strength
Shokudaikiri Mitsutada and Tsurumaru Kuninaga are concerned with helping Ookurikara, who has just manifested, getting acclimated to the citadel. Shokudaikiri Mitsutada comes up with an idea after seeing the actions of Kasen Kanesada, Uguisumaru and the others. Meanwhile, tachi, "Mikazuki Munechika" suddenly manifests in the smithing room. While the Sword Warriors are wrapped up in the joy of one of the Five Great Swords of Japan appearing, dispatch orders come down from Master.

June: This Citadel is Joyous, Isn't It?
Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu are preparing to go on expedition in Edo with Yamabushi Kunihiro, Otegine, and Hakata Toushirou, who recently arrived at the citadel. However, just before they go off on their expedition their master has been laid low with a fever. On the advice of Yagen Toushirou, the group adds one more mission to their Edo expedition and heads into the mountains to collect medicinal herbs that can relieve a fever.

July: The Happiness of Thinking of Someone
On Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki's idea, everyone heads to the beach. Along with new arrival, Urashima Kotetsu, the hopeful 17 Sword Warriors enjoy their first brush with the ocean. Kousetsu Samonji has arrived at the citadel and Sayo Samonji is seemingly pleased. But what does Yagen feel watching all these heart-warming scenes?

August: Ghost Extermination Squad, Assemble!
Tonbokiri and Nihongou arrive at the citadel and finally all three spears are together. A blue bird appears on the veranda and Nihongou is desperate to catch it for a certain reason. The three spears work together and chase after the blue bird. That night, Akita Toushirou sees a ghost and gets scared. Nikkari Aoe steps up to exterminate the ghost that lurks in the citadel.

September: That's the Kind of Past I Have
Nakigitsune is enjoying cooking with Kogitsunemaru and Mikazuki Munechika. Watching this, Shishou thinking, "I can't lose in the treatment of my elders," and along with Tsurumaru Kuninaga work together to come up with a plan to please Mikazuki Munechika. Meanwhile, dispatch orders come for Mount Atsukashi. Iwatooshi and Imanotsurugi are off to the place of Minamoto no Yoshitsune's fate...

October: The Really Important Memories
Aizen Kunitoshi and Hotaru can't help but be worried about making things work out in the citadel with Akashi Kuniyuki and his lackadaisical behavior. During all this, strange things keep happening around the citadel and the suspicion falls on Akashi Kuniyuki. Meanwhile, Kogitsunemaru and the others are dispatched to Edo. Despite the sunny skies, the rain falls on the battlefield and they have an encounter with a fox's wedding.

November: A Stern Blow to Okita's Inheritance
Nagasone Kotetsu, beloved sword of the Shinsengumi commander, Isami Kondou, manifests at the citadel and soon after dispatch orders arrive for the Ikeda Inn. The beloved sword of Sakamoto Ryouma, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, is chosen for the dispatch unit along with swords with ties to the Shinsengumi. Captain Yamatonokami Yasusada vows to annihilate the History Retrograde Army in order to avenge his previous loss at the Ikeda Inn.

December: Our Citadel is the Hanamaru Today Too
Yamatonokami Yasusada happens to encounter his former master, Okita Souji, on the first floor of the Ikeda Inn. Becoming a member of the Shinsengumi, he infiltrates the Ikeda Inn with Okita. Feeling uneasy, Kashuu Kiyomitsu goes after Yasusada...

The Ministry of Time
The Ministry of Time, a newly established government department, is gathering ‘expats' from across history in an experiment to test the viability of time-travel. Commander Graham Gore (an officer on Sir John Franklin's doomed 1845 Arctic expedition) is one such figure rescued from certain death – alongside an army captain from the fields of the Somme, a plague victim from the 1600s, a widow from revolutionary France, and a soldier from the seventeenth century.
The expats are placed with 21st century liaisons, known as 'bridges', in unlikely flatshares. Gore has to learn about contemporary life from scratch: from air travel to industrial warfare, from feminism to Spotify, from cinema to indoor plumbing; and he must negotiate cohabiting with the ambitious modern woman who works as his bridge. After an awkward beginning, the pair start to find pleasure and comfort in each other's company, developing a relationship that is simultaneously tender, intense and profoundly unprofessional; and the expats, adrift in a new era, form friendships that ground and support them in the lonely 21st century, where they have outlived everyone they ever knew and loved.
When a deeper conspiracy at the Ministry begins to reveal itself, the bridge must reckon with what she does next. Will she save or sacrifice the exiled misfits she has come to care for so deeply?
