Season 2

Cameras inside the cockpit bring viewers into the very heart of the battle - from secret spy missions over Syria to precision strikes in Yemen and intercepting Iranian drones threatening Israel. Top Guns: Inside the RAF follows key characters in the air and on the ground at the RAF's busiest operational airbases in the UK and abroad, at a time of high stakes and high drama.

In this episode, over the Black Sea a rookie pilot is ordered to escort a top-secret British spy plane as it gathers intelligence on Russian military activity, only to face a threat which could spark all-out war. In Cyprus, a young weapons engineer comes to terms with a deadly task, while in Romania, RAF jets rapidly redeploy as Iran threatens Israel.

On top-secret orders, a Reaper spy drone controlled from RAF Waddington hunts down ISIS terrorists in Iraq. Days after meeting his first baby daughter, an air traffic controller gets deployed to the Falkland Islands. In Cyprus, a squadron receives orders to destroy Houthi missile sites in Yemen after attacks on a Royal Navy warship.

A junior pilot has a close encounter over Syria with two Russian jets. Engineers work around the clock to keep the Typhoons battle-ready in Cyprus. At RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, two pilots prepare for an imminent overseas deployment.

In the final episode of the current run, a pilot flies into the danger zone to see if he has what it takes to become a qualified weapons instructor - the British version of a 'Top Gun'. A 22-year-old rookie engineer faces her first real test when Typhoons are scrambled for an emergency. And a veteran pilots a Hurricane, notorious for being the RAF's most difficult plane to handle.
