Growing interest in gut health has spawned a field of research that continues to make important discoveries about how previously little-understood microbes shape the well-being of the whole body. It shows how unbalanced diets and other lifestyle habits can damage them and potentially expose us to ill-health and disease. Japanese researchers studying the intestinal bacteria of 1,800 subjects identified five types of composition that can indicate health conditions.
