At least 33 million people are under a winter storm watch heading into the weekend as a massive winter storm barrels toward the East Coast. Some cities could see up to a foot of snow. NBC's Maggie Vespa reports and TODAY's Al Roker tracks the latest forecast. Disgraced Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius was released from a South African prison on Friday, nearly 11 years after killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. NBC's Kaylee Hartung reports for TODAY about the strict parole conditions he's under as he reenters society. Judge Mary Kay Holthus, who was tackled during a sentencing in a Las Vegas court room, released a statement saying she's "extremely grateful to those who took brave action during the attack." The man who attacked her is now facing multiple new felony charges. NBC's Liz Kreutz reports for TODAY. A second batch of court documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein was unsealed, revealing primarily depositions transcripts, court filings and emails. NBC's Laura Jarrett reports for TODAY.

The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one-third of the time. Good luck, Bill!
