Season 1
The Rising is the story of Neve Kelly, who discovers that she is dead. She's scared and confused by this new existence. But, when she realises she has been murdered, she's furious. She's determined to find her killer and get justice, believing that it was someone she knew. Impulsive and restless, Neve regrets never leaving her isolated community. And, as she comes to terms with her abilities, she begins to destabilise the lives of those she left behind. Particularly her estranged father, Tom and her beloved mother Maria. Neve is a disruptive, unsettling hero who should not exist, and she needs to find her purpose. She takes us through the investigation into her death, going where the police can't. In the process she uncovers deeply buried secrets and is forced to re-examine everything about her life and the people she cared about. With nothing to lose but time, Neve will push for the truth even when it hurts. Her return forces everyone around her to change, confess, or start covering their tracks. But, it also reveals that there are others like her out there…

Episode 1
Neve Kelly discovers that she is dead and understandably is scared and confused by this new stare, but when she realises she has been murdered, she is furious. Determined to find her killer and get justice, she takes advantage of her new supernatural abilities to go where the police can't and investigate her own death.

Episode 2
After a shocking revelation, Neve and her father Tom try to process her new reality. Neve herself starts to follow her own murder investigation.

Episode 3
Suspicions grow regarding Neve's ex-boyfriend Joseph and what part he may have had to play in her death. The family attend the vigil for Neve, whilst Alex questions Neve's stepsister.

Episode 4
As Neve pursues a connection in the woods, a supernatural breakthrough leads to some disturbing revelations.

Episode 5
Terrified, and sure she knows who her killer is, Neve seeks help from Alex, whose mother and father are beginning to show concern.

Episode 6
Budding relationships falter and old ones have the potential to rekindle as Neve and Alex fall out.

Episode 7
It's seven years earlier and the last day of Victoria Sand's life. She and a young Katie and Max surprise Daniel for his birthday.

Episode 8
Everything comes to a head at Keaton Hall, and Neve and Alex must fight their way back to each other. Series finale.
