Headstrong Megan Roberts, newly arrived district nurse in a South Wales town, is ready to fight the hypocrisy of a tightknit community set in its ways and suspicious of change.

Episode 2
The district nurse is convinced that whatever is causing the epidemic is being carried in the town's water supply. But how can she prove it in time?

Episode 3
Megan finds her nursing skills needed in an unexpected way on the farm, and is summoned to face an angry charity committee.

Episode 4
The community distrusts the district nurse, preferring superstition to science. The situation can only get worse when Megan discovers the children have head lice.

Episode 5
Megan is physically attacked in the street by the mothers of the children with nits, and she has her first major nursing emergency.

Episode 6
The district nurse, in a remote part of the country, with no qualified medical assistance, has to cope with a very complicated pregnancy, alone.

Episode 7
Megan's convinced that two of her patients are lying about the cause of their injuries. When she tries to get at the truth, she comes up against a wall of silence.

Episode 8
Megan knows why Nora is dead but proving what she knows is impossible. She confronts the cobbler with some unpleasant home truths.

Episode 9
In an effort to answer many pressing questions of the present, Megan decides to undertake a difficult journey into her past.

Episode 10
By moving into Gwen and David's cottage Megan has caused the tongues to start wagging again. Maybe her participation in a community event will help restore her flagging reputation

The mine manager threatens Gwen with eviction if the district nurse doesn't move out.

Episode 12
The charabanc, full of children, has crashed on the mountains, forcing the people of the town to look at themselves in a new light.
