The Chapter on Unfaithfulness
Aventer's close friend comes to visit the Grays for some healing after a heartbreaking divorce; John counsels a couple trying to overcome infidelity on their path to the altar.

The Chapter on Miracles
John seeks Aventer's help to counsel a couple suffering from infertility; John works with a woman who has taken in three kids and had two open heart surgeries; Aventer struggles to get John to face his own medical challenges and manage his diabetes.

The Chapter on Making Peace
After speaking with Aventer about the growing rift between police and the black community, John visits the Houston Police Department to start a dialogue; a desperate father reaches out to John for help with his alcoholic daughter.

The Chapter on Battling Demons
As he tries to help a sexual abuse survivor, John must confront his own demons; John looks to his mother-in-law, Bonnie, to help get through to a cancer survivor struggling with negative feelings.

The Chapter on Growing Up Fatherless
John meets with a single mother who is struggling to control her disobedient and rebellious daughter; Aventer and John play host for the weekend to four teenage boys seeking mentorship.

The Chapter on Gun Violence
John helps a mother deal with the violent death of her son through the healing power of music; A woman's struggle with weight issues hits John close to home; Aventer tries to convince John that family photos are an important family tradition.

The Midnight Sermon
John tries to help a heartbroken mother to heal after her son goes to prison; John and Aventer counsel their unlucky-in-love friend, LeToya Luckett; on the homefront, John plans the ultimate surprise party for Aventer's 35th birthday.
