Убойный отдел разбирается с очередной запутанной ситуацией. Кто-то похищает звезду светской хроники и требует крупную сумму за её освобождение. За выкупом никто не приезжает, а женщину обнаруживают убитой в лесу. Оперативники выясняют, что у погибшей был любовник, но он бесследно исчез. Версия с мстящим за измену мужем не находит подтверждения, к тому же оказывается, что деньги, предназначенные на выкуп, заменены на фальшивки.
