Sue Perkins: Lost in Alaska - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Episode 1
In this first episode, Sue starts her Alaskan adventure in Anchorage, on the edge of civilisation and thousands of miles from her hometown of Croydon! She's come to America's last frontier to see if she has what it takes to survive in the wilderness – a place of adventure, beauty, and danger…
With that in mind, Sue begins her journey with a very necessary trip to a survival school, where she learns how to protect herself in the event of a bear attack… With mixed results.
As she continues her adventure to discover more about the Alaskan way of life, she's confronted with some uncomfortable realities, such as the precarious relationship between Alaska's human and wildlife populations. She also discovers Alaska's enduring Russian heritage and puts her body on the line as she feeds a rather pushy baby moose.

Episode 2
In this episode Sue continues her Alaskan adventure of a lifetime, following the old gold trail route into the interior of America's largest and wildest state. She heads off the beaten track to explore the state's rich history and meet the incredible people who live in the Alaskan wilderness, to discover if she too could survive in this daunting landscape.
Sue begins her journey in Willow where she takes part in Alaska's "state sport" of dog mushing, which also happens to be one of the few modes of transport available to Alaskans come wintertime. Then she is off for an adventure at the end of the world… literally! Sue joins Alaskan doomsday preppers on an intense "bug out" boat ride deep into the wilderness to discover the ingenuity and capability it takes to survive when things hit the proverbial fan.
In the old gold towns of Talkeetna and Fairbanks, Sue learns about Alaska's fascinating frontier history and how camaraderie and community, so vital to the state's past, remain alive and well today. Sue tries her hand at gold panning to see if she can strike it rich, and enters a beard growing competition to get a taste of the state's independent and quirky spirit.
Finally, Sue meets a homesteader to find out if she has what it takes to prosper while living self-sufficiently and off-grid in one of the most unforgiving and often dangerous places on the planet.

Episode 3
In the final episode of her epic Alaskan adventure, Sue Perkins heads even further off the beaten track, visiting amazing communities living in the extreme wilderness. She meets inspiring Alaska Native communities, discovers the challenges of life on the edge, and asks what the future holds for this great state.
She begins her journey by facing up to her fear of flying – though before she even steps onto a plane, she has to survive a heart-racing air crash simulator. Then it's up and away as she takes off to see the breathtakingly mesmerising Kennicott Glacier, and parts of Alaska unreachable by road.
Next, Sue heads to the formerly abandoned ghost town of McCarthy where she encounters the enterprising Alaskan spirit which is restoring this off-beat sin-city settlement back to its former glory. From there she goes deeper into interior Alaska where she meets an Alaska Native family to learn about Indigenous life, culture, and cuisine.
Before she leaves the beaten track behind, Sue travels along the mighty Yukon River to the Native Village of Tanana, discovering the challenges faced by this age-old community. Finally, she rounds off her trip by exploring true wilderness in the mind-blowingly massive Wrangell St Elias National Park – an area that's the size of Switzerland.
