The first series of Strictly Come Dancing began airing on BBC One on 15 May 2004. Eight well-known celebrities were paired with professional ballroom dancers and the show was presented by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly. The judging panel was announced as Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman, Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli. The series was won by newsreader and presenter, Natasha Kaplinsky and her partner, Brendan Cole on 3 July 2004.
