Strange Paradise was a Canadian occult-supernatural soap opera of 195 episodes, following billionaire Jean Paul Desmonds' refusal to accept the death of his wife and subsequent bargain with the spirit of his sinister ancestor, Jacques Eloi des Mondes. Initially launched in syndication in the United States on September 8, 1969, Strange Paradise was later broadcast on the CBC from October 20, 1969, to July 22, 1970. The production was a failed attempt to capitalize on the success of Dark Shadows.
