When a golem discovers a human girl in his forest, the two set out on a journey in search of other humans, whom are considered to be nearly extinct. During their journey, they arrive at a large city filled with all kinds of creatures.

Edible Herbs and the Oni's Dwelling
When Somali is injured, an oni named Shizuno comes to her aid and gives her medical treatment. Golem requests to learn how to make medicine from Shizuno to better protect Somali in the future.

The Sea at the Bottom of the Cave
When their funds run low, Golem works for a restaurant in a city to earn money and Somali becomes friends with the restaurant owners' child in the meantime. Somali begins to worry about being separated from Golem when their journey ends.

The Wishing Flower and the Promise Request
During their search for the wishing flower, Somali and Kikila are found by Muthrica, one of the guards of the underground area of Anthole City. Somali insists on continuing onward to find the flower so she can be always be with Golem.

The Wandering Birds
When Golem and Somali need to travel across a large desert, two bird travelers, Uzoi and Haitora, offer them free transport. But these travelers harbor secrets, and they could possibly be a danger to Somali.

Dying Flowers Look Up at the Birds
Golem and Haitora hurry to find Somali and Uzoi. Uzoi believes Somali's blood could be the cure to Haitora's illness, but she finds herself unable to harm Somali. Later, when everyone returns to camp, Haitora shares his past with Golem.

The Footsteps That Stalk the Witches
After leaving the desert, Somali and Golem travel to a witch village in search of a library that holds books from around the world, in which they have hopes of finding books about humans that may provide clues of their current whereabouts.

Meeting and Bonds Prayed For
Somali and Golem meet the head librarian of library since she was the last one to possess "The Chronicle of Haraiso". Upon meeting her, they learn she's also the author of the book and they listen as she shares the story from long ago.

Memories of Minor Days
Somali and Golem stay for the night at an empty lodge when it starts raining. The two spend time baking together when Somali finds a cookbook. During the night, two friends appear before them.

The Infant Child and the Green Boulder
Golem recalls back to the time he first met Somali in his forest. Later, when Golem and Yabashira begin their jobs as bodyguards, Somali and Shizuno do arts and crafts when Somali decides she wants to make a gift for Golem.

Those Who Protect and Those Who Threaten
On their last night at the inn, Somali gives her gift to Golem, and her and the others enjoy a night of peace and merriment. But that peace is unfortunately cut short when human hunters approach the inn.

Bonded Father and Child
Golem transforms and fights off the human hunters to protect Somali. But when he continues to rampage, the others stop him from doing anymore harm. After the incident, Golem questions if he can still continue his role as Somali's father.
