Seventeen years after leaving the Lyell, Sam Ryan returns asking for the team's help after a political assassination. The shooting of the Health Secretary pulls Lyell into a world of duplicity, intrigue, and betrayal.

In Liverpool, following the launch of Sam Ryan's new company, the health secretary is assassinated. Sam summons the Lyell team with a plea to help investigate, but Nikki is unsure whether she can trust Sam, who seems to know more than she's revealing. Meanwhile, Jack and Nikki navigate their feelings for each other.

History, Part Two
DNA evidence linked to the Health Secretary's assassination forces Nikki to face her past in the present. As her investigation progresses, Nikki realises that its consequences will affect her, and her profession, forever.

History, Part Three
When a woman confesses to murdering her husband, the Lyell team must determine if all is as it seems. Meanwhile, Simone is shocked to be reunited with a detective from her childhood, and struggles to untangle her past.

History, Part Four
A secret from his father propels Jack to Belfast. Meanwhile, Simone and Nikki investigate the mystery of a burned body. As familial secrets come to the surface, Jack faces tragedy head on.

History, Part Five
The death of an investigative journalist throws the spotlight onto Sam Ryan. Nikki begins to realise that the implications of her discoveries will challenge the principles of forensic science.

History, Part Six
As the Lyell team focus their investigation, they bring peril upon themselves. With the world they hold dear teetering on a knife edge, they confront their threats to preserve the credibility of DNA.

Murder Most Puzzling

She soon finds herself pulled into a murky underworld of corrupt cops and hired killers, forced to carry out their orders with no escape in sight. However, no matter how far Jo finds herself from her old life, her mission remains the same, to keep her son alive.

Irish Blood
Irish Blood focuses on Fiona, whose path in life is earmarked by her father, Declan, who seemingly abandoned her and her mother on her tenth birthday. After years of channelling anger toward him, to the benefit of her litigious clients, a message from her father sends her to Ireland. There she learns key truths about her father as well as a family that doesn't know she exists, and, moreover, that the story of abandonment that has shaped her entire life - was a lie. A lie intended to protect her and her mother from her father's shady business dealings. Fiona resolves to uncover the full truth about her father and reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew.
