Season 4

Episodes

Episode 1
The One Show presenter Alex Jones and business journalist Steph McGovern return to help more families change the way they shop. In the first edition, they meet Evesham couple John and Caroline, who have eight children ranging in age from 20 years to 20 months old. With 10 people living under one roof, Caroline and John are already super-savvy when it comes to spending, but they are discovering that as the kids get bigger, so do the costs that come with them.

Episode 2
Alex and Steph meet the Mountford family. In the past Melissa and Jon didn't have to worry about their spending, but a change in circumstances means they need to tighten the purse strings.

Episode 3
This week Alex and Steph are in North Lincolnshire with the Miller family. Wes and Mel have three children: Romeo, Ceci and Ronnie. They love hosting parties, and there's one extra special party that they need to save for - after 10 years together, Wes finally popped the question and asked Mel to marry him. But with no savings and big wedding expectations, they need to make considerable changes if they want the wedding of their dreams. Can Alex and Steph show these big spenders that it is possible to create memories without breaking the bank, and help them put money aside for their special day?

Episode 4
This week Alex and Steph are in Milton Keynes to meet the Howarth family - one of our biggest spending families to date. Finance analyst Catherine and engineer Richard have two children, four-year-old Jonah and two-year-old Sophia. A lack of time management means the family has slid into some bad shopping habits, often buying two or three of the same household items. From tablets to cameras, irons to hairdryers, they even have two washing machines, two microwaves and two ovens, all because they think it's more convenient and ‘common sense'! The family has recently completed a large house extension and renovation project, and it's come at a cost, leaving them with credit card debt that they are desperate to pay off. Can Alex and Steph get this doubling-up duo to rein in their spending and get on top of their debt?

Episode 5
Alex Jones and Steph McGovern travel to Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, to meet Antonietta Tulino and her three children, hoping to help the family change their spending habits. In an effort to confront their money-spending ways, Alex and Steph resort to shock tactics, and set up a pop-up-shop in the family home displaying all of their biggest spends, with shocking results. Can Alex and Steph help this family start saving, rather than spending?
