First Blood
Living in a small village, Megumi's two main interests are classmate Natsuno Yuuki and a European-style house on a hill. One day, when her fascination with the house leads her to climb the hill, she vanishes.

Second Decay
Toshio is shocked by Megumi's sudden death from anemia and suspects something unusual, though her family refuses an autopsy. At her funeral, Natsuno distances himself emotionally, despite others trying to involve him. Toshio and his team find Megumi's condition rare and unexplained, and more mysterious deaths follow. Suspecting an epidemic, Toshio, Seishin, and councilman Ishida begin a discreet investigation. Meanwhile, Natsuno grows increasingly uneasy, feeling as though he's being watched.

Third Tragedy
The strange deaths continue as Dr. Ozaki struggles to find the cause of a mysterious anemia afflicting residents, while his friend Mikiyasu's wife, Nao, succumbs to the illness. Natsuno finds himself entangled in growing tension with classmate Masao and eerie encounters with the enigmatic Kirishiki family. Meanwhile, Seishin meets the unsettling Sunako Kirishiki, whose fascination with death and Seishin's past hints at deeper horrors to come.

Fourth Death
Mysterious deaths continue in Sotoba, including Mikiyasu and his son. Toshio suspects an epidemic and investigates quietly. Natsuno is haunted by visions of Megumi. Seishin meets a strange girl named Sunako who can't go out in sunlight.

Fifth Deceit
Natsuno wakes from a nightmare of Megumi attacking Tooru, only to later discover Tooru has died, confirming his fears. Seishin investigates the deaths and finds that many victims quit their jobs shortly before dying, suggesting a disturbing pattern.

Sixth Skull
More villagers die mysteriously. Natsuno suspects the dead are rising and confronts Toshio. Kaori and Akira spy on the Kanemasa mansion, unaware they're being watched.

Seventh Killing Spirit
Masao awakens as a vampire and is coerced by Tatsumi into feeding on humans to survive. Natsuno, Kaori, and Akira plan to exhume Megumi's grave to confirm their suspicions about the undead, but their conversation is overheard by Tatsumi. Dr. Toshio suspects vampires are behind the mysterious deaths and devises a plan to use a patient as bait, seeking Seishin's assistance.

Eighth Night
Natsuno, Kaori, and Akira exhume Megumi's grave, finding it empty. Kaori is attacked by a shiki but Natsuno saves her and kills the assailant. They bury the body in Megumi's grave, but it vanishes by morning. Seishin grows suspicious of Sunako's true nature. That night, a mysterious girl visits Natsuno's home, asking to see him.

Ninth Coffin
Toshio and Seishin guard Setsuko at the clinic, suspecting a shiki attack. Nao appears outside but cannot enter without invitation. Later, Tatsumi gains access through Toshio's wife and overpowers Toshio, allowing Nao and other shiki to drain Setsuko's blood. Toshio is left grieving, realizing the clinic is no longer safe.

Tenth Mourning
Tensions escalate as Natsuno becomes increasingly vigilant, suspecting that the shiki are targeting him. He arms himself and warns his friends to be cautious about allowing strangers into their homes. Meanwhile, the shiki, led by Tatsumi, plan a coordinated attack to eliminate those who threaten their existence.

Eleventh Slaughter
While Sotoba's villagers are debating the cause of the frequent deaths, the town shaman points her finger at the residents of Kanemasa mansion.

Twelfth Decay
After Toru's attack, Natsuno warns Kaori and her brother to escape the village before they fall victim to the vampires as well.

Thirteenth Tragedy
The population of the village grows thin as the blood-sucking okiagari claim more victims, including Toshio's wife. With no strength left in his body, Natsuno invites Toru in for a last feeding.

Fourteenth Death
Kaori's father suddenly collapses. At the clinic, Toshio studies his wife's corpse for clues on how to combat the vampires.

Fifteenth Deceit
The Shiki are bent on keeping the outside world in the dark about the deaths in Sotoba. When Toshio threatens to expose them, a member of the Kanemasa mansion pays him a visit.

Sixteenth Skull
Sunako calls Toru to Kanemasa to share a piece of her past with him. The Shiki's curse looms over Kaori as she finds her mother still in bed, pale and drained of energy.

Seventeenth Killing Spirit
As Shiki continue to rid the village of the living, Seishin finally makes a move. On another late night at the clinic, Toshio gets a visitor.

Eighteenth Night
Natsuno's return from death grants him a visit from Tatsumi. Hoping to enjoy his last days amongst the living, Toshio takes the mistress of Kanemasa to the village's yearly festival.

Nineteenth Coffin
The villagers band together to free their town from the grips of the Shiki. Meanwhile, Tatsumi decides what to do with Seishin.

Twentieth Mourning
Toshio leads those who haven't joined the Shiki - or fled the village - on a raging, blood-soaked hunt, but there's still one place they haven't looked. As the vampires strike back, Seishin continues his watch over Sunako.

Twenty-first Slaughter
The conflict between the villagers and the shiki intensifies. As the villagers continue their campaign against the shiki, Sunako fears for her life, and Tatsumi devises a plan to help her escape. Meanwhile, Seishin grapples with his own choices and their consequences.

The Final Hunt
The last of the Shiki try to escape the village, but one of their own kind stands in Tatsumi's way. What fate remains for the vampires and Sotoba"the village surrounded by death"
