David lets Joe play hooky; feeling guilty, Joe reveals the truth; Amy and Emily want to learn which neighbor is not cleaning up after their dog.

David thinks Emily is not ready to drive when his coaching makes her nervous; Janie discovers that Dr. Monkey Chunks was run over in the driveway.

After being forbidden to drive at night, Emily takes Amy's car and goes to a party; Joe wants more responsibility.

David takes Joe's scout troop on a camping trip with help from his old crew.

After Joe's favorite teacher quits to follow his dream, David tries to get the teacher back.

David decides to help Joe build a tree house; Emily gets her first job on Amy's set.

David volunteers to be a room mom at Janie's school, but then he realizes how much work is involved. Elsewhere, Joe flees from an intimidating classmate.

Emily lands an internship she loves thanks to David, and she considers dropping out of school to work full time. Elsewhere, Joe and his pals get ready to perform in a talent show.

Janie runs away to Marcus' place because she dislikes her father's rules, and David struggles to get her to return home. Elsewhere, Emily attempts to get close to Joe's new older buddy.

Tracey McFee (Daniella Monet), an actress who played David's daughter on his old sitcom before she was fired, returns into David's life as Joe's Spanish tutor, who is terrible at her job. Emily and Kevin are hired as background extras on Amy's soap opera, however the gig will require Kevin to be away from David for two days, causing Kevin to stress out. Janie has a friend with terrible body odor.

David challenges a wrestler to a televised event in order to impress Joe and his friends.
