Serial Killer
Criminal defense attorney Keegan Deane's personal shortcomings get him in one professional pickle after another in this comedy-drama, which begins with a serial killer's confession that may or may not be the work of the Los Angeles police chief. Meanwhile, a client remunerates Keegan with an expensive fish, but he needs to collect the money from a sushi restaurant so he can pay his bookie part of his gambling debt.

A Close Shave
Keegan defends three Amish bakers when they're accused of attempted murder for shaving off the beard of a bishop who was trying to save a woman he thought was in danger. Meanwhile, Scarlet and Ben plan a recommitment ceremony; and Keegan meets a woman on social media who shares his penchant for gambling.

Cancer
A mom commits insurance fraud to fuel her gambling addiction by saying her son has cancer, so Keegan searches for an approach to appeal to the jury's emotions. Meanwhile, Keegan breaks his promise to Finn to have skateboarder Tony Hawk come to his school for an auction; and an unexpected competitor takes Keegan's poker winnings.

Cannibal
A death in Ben's family forces him to ask Keegan to take over a case in which the mayor's chief economic adviser is accused of murdering—and eating—a young accountant. Meanwhile, Mikki makes a decision about her career.

Bigamist
A chef is accused of bigamy, but Keegan thinks he can convince the jury that it's not a crime—until news breaks of his other romantic relationships. Meanwhile, Mikki needs Keegan's help when a former client starts harassing her; and Scarlet faces a legal problem.

Jury Tamperer
A woman is charged with jury tampering after seducing a juror to get her daughter out of jail, which forces Keegan to take an unusual approach to a case and place the blame on the city for a wrongful conviction. Meanwhile, Finn won't stop sleeping with his teacher; and Keegan tries to sabotage Mikki's romance with David.

Three Strikes
The mayor's ban on plea deals challenges Keegan to find a way to get an old friend off the hook when he's charged with a third-strike robbery he didn't commit. Meanwhile, Ben's firm may get a new lawyer; Scarlet mulls a career move; and Keegan doesn't think Maddy can spend an entire day with her boyfriend.

Staple Holes
Ben takes over the law firm after the death of his father and hires Keegan, who manages to win his first case despite being completely unprepared for it, but he doesn't get the reaction he expected from the partners. Meanwhile, Leanne wants to be on Keegan's staff at Ben's firm; Bruce can't accept the fact that Maddy broke up with him; Scarlet rethinks the launch of her campaign for DA; and a new wrinkle develops in Keegan's relationship with the mayor's wife.

Hey, Good Looking
Keegan defends a woman charged with killing her husband, but also finds himself a suspect in the murder of the mayor. Meanwhile, Maddy tires of Bruce's stalker behavior; and Ben and Scarlet's loyalty to Keegan becomes a bone of contention.

50 Shades of Gay
Mikki's former pimp, Jules, is charged with assault after an altercation with an influential agent whose status in Los Angeles prohibits witnesses from speaking out, even though it's clear that Jules is innocent. Meanwhile, Scarlet's DA campaign hits a roadblock; and Maddy has a confrontation with Finn's teacher.

Remembrance of Taxis Past
Keegan solicits support for Scarlet's DA campaign from a popular former governor of California, but is unnerved by Maddy's choice of a political consultant who happens to be her ex-lover. Meanwhile, Mikki's fiancé could be a formidable opponent for Scarlet.

A Man's Best Friend
Keegan defends a doctor who's accused of animal cruelty after an explicit video is stolen. Meanwhile, the race for DA between Scarlet and David gets ugly when personal information is leaked to the press; the Feds want to look at the financial records at Ben's firm; and Maddy rekindles a romance with an ex-girlfriend.

Mammophile
A mother and son confess to the same murder to protect each other. Meanwhile, Keegan deals with the fallout of an auction at his son's school; and learns that Mikki is dating someone he knows.

The Ministry of Time
The Ministry of Time, a newly established government department, is gathering ‘expats' from across history in an experiment to test the viability of time-travel. Commander Graham Gore (an officer on Sir John Franklin's doomed 1845 Arctic expedition) is one such figure rescued from certain death – alongside an army captain from the fields of the Somme, a plague victim from the 1600s, a widow from revolutionary France, and a soldier from the seventeenth century.
The expats are placed with 21st century liaisons, known as 'bridges', in unlikely flatshares. Gore has to learn about contemporary life from scratch: from air travel to industrial warfare, from feminism to Spotify, from cinema to indoor plumbing; and he must negotiate cohabiting with the ambitious modern woman who works as his bridge. After an awkward beginning, the pair start to find pleasure and comfort in each other's company, developing a relationship that is simultaneously tender, intense and profoundly unprofessional; and the expats, adrift in a new era, form friendships that ground and support them in the lonely 21st century, where they have outlived everyone they ever knew and loved.
When a deeper conspiracy at the Ministry begins to reveal itself, the bridge must reckon with what she does next. Will she save or sacrifice the exiled misfits she has come to care for so deeply?
