Palettes prepped and canvases primed, the nation's favourite art competition returns to the iconic Battersea Arts Centre for its eleventh series, once again helmed by Stephen Mangan. This year's Portrait Artist of the Year promises a thrilling showcase of talent as aspiring artists from across the UK vie for the coveted 2024 title. With celebrity sitters spanning the worlds of stage, screen, sport, literature, and politics, the competition is set to be as dynamic as ever. Over eight intense heats, these artists will put their skills to the test, aiming to dazzle our expert judges - Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kathleen Soriano, and Kate Bryan - and prove they have what it takes to capture the essence of their famous subjects.

To open this year's competition, we welcome actress, singer and all round national treasure Hannah Waddingham, along with veteran TV presenter Richard Madeley and Slow Horses star Saskia Reeves, to sit for our first round of artists.

Lorraine Ashbourne & Andy Serkis
It's the grand final of the 2024 competition, where the top three finalists will battle for the title by capturing the essence of one of Britain's most iconic acting duos, Andy Serkis and Lorraine Ashbourne. Once the paint has dried, our judges will crown this year's winner, who along with the prestigious title of Portrait Artist of the Year, will earn a £10,000 commission to create a portrait of renowned broadcaster Lorraine Kelly to be exhibited at National Galleries Scotland: Portrait – with our cameras following their creative process.

The Mortician
A darkly gripping series, The Mortician chronicles a trusted family-owned funeral home that hid behind a façade of decency and propriety to take advantage of loved ones at their most vulnerable moments. Providence Falls
In 1844 Ireland, Liam O'Conner, a rogue and a thief, falls in love with Cora McLeod, a fiery but sheltered aristocrat's daughter, who is promised in marriage to a man she barely knows. Their plan to make a new life together in America is thwarted, and the consequences of Liam and Cora's unlikely love ripples through time, causing everyone to relive the events of the past. Now the Angels of Destiny need Liam's help to set things right and if he doesn't succeed, his very soul is on the line. They transport Liam to present day to help this incarnation of Cora fall in love with Finn, the man she was destined to marry in 1844. Liam would give anything to reunite with his beloved Cora but only he retains the memories of their past together. Now a cop in Providence Falls, Oregon, Cora feels an inexplicable connection to Liam, who is introduced as her new partner.
