Episode 4

It's 9pm, and a man phones 999, claiming his housemate is threatening to kill him and his partner. On arrival, the housemate denies the allegations, before claiming that it's actually him, not the caller, who is the victim. Telling police that the caller has cleared out his room and burnt all his belongings in the garden, the officers are now faced with a confusing situation. And when the housemate kicks off in custody and starts to flood his cell, police have to act fast to prevent an ugly situation from turning violent. Meanwhile, a specialist task force is preparing to raid a local garage suspected of being used to deal cocaine. Officers make a dramatic surprise entry, the owner is arrested, and a man is found with cocaine stashed in his shoe. After several more arrests, the suspects are taken off to custody, before sniffer dogs discover suspicious-looking powder concealed in a vehicle. But will the evidence be enough to secure a charge and keep the suspects remanded? Back at HQ, a desperate call comes in from a care worker. Her client, an elderly woman with dementia, has gone missing. Units are immediately dispatched to find her, but when it becomes clear that the woman is suffering from complex health conditions, the search to find her becomes a matter of life and death.

Murder in a Small Town
Karl Alberg moves to a quiet coastal town to soothe a psyche that has been battered by big-city police work. Bookish
London, 1946 is the dynamic, dangerous and chaotic setting for this stylish new detective drama, with the eccentric Gabriel Book at the very heart of the story: a self-appointed consultant detective to the local police. The thousands of books that line the shelves of his shop provide him with all the knowledge he needs.
Book has gathered around him a host of lovable, damaged misfits whom he informally protects, cajoles, and mentors. His wife Trottie runs the wallpaper shop next door. She's a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves deeply but not physically, for they are in a 'lavender' marriage to help conceal Book's sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.
Bookish marries post-war nostalgia with the reckless and life-affirming atmosphere of the times, creating a fast-paced and stylish detective drama.
