The Opal Whisperers partnership with veteran miner Uwe ends abruptly. Desperate for stock to sell at the Lightning Ridge Opal Festival they call in a favor to mine their claim with an excavator and undercover a $40,000 boulder opal. The Misfits finally hit old timers' workings at the bottom of their open cut mine. Exploration of the claustrophobic tunnels are cut short as heavy vibrations risk a mine collapse. Angel attempts her first opal sale at the Lightning Ridge Opal Festival.
