Operation Ouch! - Season 5

Season 5
Hospital Takeover
Bafta-award winning medical show, Operation Ouch!, returns for a new ten-part series presented by identical twins Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken.
In this series they venture behind the scenes of one of the biggest children's hospitals in Europe, Alder Hey in Liverpool, which moved into a brand new state-of-the-art building last year.
With bigger experiments than ever before and incredible investigations, the doctors explore the fascinating world of medicine and biology and the amazing things that our bodies can do. This week, the doctors reveal what makes humans flexible as they test the incredible strength of a tendon to the max and Dr Xand sets out to discover if laughter really is the best medicine with a simple yet effective experiment.
In a new strand, Operation Takeover, they meet the heroes working behind the scenes of children's hospitals and try their hand at their amazing jobs in a head-to-head challenge that takes the twins well and truly out of their comfort zone.
The series also follows the journeys of four remarkable children as they undergo their treatment in hospital to find out what it's like to be a regular patient. Meanwhile in Accident & Emergency, one of the busiest in Europe, one patient has surgery to fix a leaking bone graft while another is treated for a dancing injury.
