Season 2
Another year has passed at Wiveton Hall farm, tucked away on the north Norfolk coast. It is home to gentleman farmer Desmond MacCarthy, his 101-year-old mother Chloe and his two children, Isabel and Edmund. Forall his adult life, Desmond has struggled to keep his stunning 17th-century manor house and farm the right side of bankruptcy. Now, hundreds of thousands of pounds in debt and with his overdraft at its limit, Desmond must conjure up increasingly clever ways to make money if he is to survive.
Episodes

Episode 1
In this episode, the Wiveton cafe is beginning to thrive, but profits are devoured by the maintenance of the house and gardens. Desmond, with the help of his loyal team, begins to promote the Edwardian wing of Wiveton Hall as a place to stay and takes a booking from an international yoga retreat.

Episode 2
The walls of the beautiful 17th-century Wiveton Hall are lined with portraits of Desmond MacCarthy's ancestors. There is one question hanging in the air - who will take over the running of Wiveton Hall after Desmond? With his son Edmund now at university, Desmond ponders the future of Wiveton. Will it stay in the family for a fourth generation or will Desmond be the last of the MacCarthy's to make Wiveton Hall their home?
Elsewhere on the farm, a crisis in the cafe water supply prompts Desmond to go looking for an ancient water well, and Edmund and Desmond go on a night shoot hunting for rats.

Episode 3
It is October at Wiveton. Pigeons are attacking the rape crop, the pigs are getting ready for their final journey to the abattoir and Desmond is cajoling his 101-year-old mother into buying him a new pair of binoculars for his looming 60th birthday. Whilst Desmond does battle with the pigeons, friends and family gather at Wiveton Hall for Desmond's birthday celebration, complete with homemade cockerel korma and poppadoms.

Episode 4
This week, Desmond goes global. As the cafe closes for the winter months, Desmond must rely on other aspects of his business to bring in an income. Keen to attract overseas guests, he launches his holiday cottages on Airbnb and lures an international interiors magazine to do a photoshoot and feature on his ancestral home. Worried about the impact of Brexit, Desmond buys a second-hand caravan in need of renovation which he hopes will help attract eastern European seasonal workers to Norfolk.

Episode 5
Christmas is approaching at Wiveton Hall and Desmond is in a sociable mood, hosting a pheasant shooting party for his old friends. As his treasured seasonal farmworkers head back to Poland, he transforms the kitchens into a jam-making factory. The hall and cottages are decorated with Christmas trees and Desmond organises an end of the year party for his staff. Cockerel korma vol au vents are on the menu.

Episode 6
Wiveton has been in hibernation for the winter months but as spring arrives, the farm comes alive again. Desmond and his team make frantic preparations to reopen the cafe on Mother's Day, complete with a brand new electronic till system, a new mini Wiveton playhouse for the kids and a new set of loos with amazing views. But all does not go according to plan. Just as the mothers settle down to their roast beef lunches, Desmond manages to knock the electricity supply off and panic sets in.
