Episode 1
In this first episode, Sue and Peter are divorcing but can't agree on how their money should be split, after Sue left the family home for another relationship. In another case, Martin wants see the two sons he has with ex-partner Nicky, but she doesn't want to see him and negotiations are proving difficult.
We also meet Jason and Vicky, separated parents, who are struggling to share the parenting of their daughter. They haven't spoken a word to each other for the last six months and after a complete breakdown in communication, their only point of contact is Vicky's new husband. As skilled mediator Irene offers shuttle mediation between two separate rooms, will the two parties manage to reach an agreement?

Episode 2
Mediator Irene meets Richie and Lizzie, who split recently but have an 18 month old son together. They attend mediation in an attempt to reach an agreement over how Richie will spend time with him now that they live 100 miles apart.
In another mediation room, Mandy and Peter meet each another for the first time since they separated six years ago - to address a problem that has been hanging over them ever since. They weren't married but are co-owners of a flat that Mandy still lives in - and now she wants sole ownership of the property.

Episode 3
In the final episode we meet three more separated couples using family mediation to resolve their disputes without a courtroom battle. Cameras go behind closed doors as the divided parties enter the mediation room to thrash out agreements that will help them move forward with their new lives.
Parvez and Robina's marriage was arranged by their families, but after 24 years and three children together, Robina walked out two years ago. They've come to mediation to try to agree on how to divide their assets. With the family home where Parvez still lives with their two adult children and a collection of family jewellery at stake, both couples refuse to budge.
Having recently divorced after 10 years of marriage, Jess and Matt decided on mediation to try to resolve a dispute over where their three children should sleep during the week. Until now they have stayed regularly with Matt, but he is set to move in with his new partner and her two children, and Jess can't see how their children can stay in his new home as she believes it will affect their studies.
We also meet Ben and Catia, a young couple who met when they worked together in childcare. Now their daughter Susie is three and Catia has decided she wants to move back to her native Portugal, taking Susie with her.
