The Disappearance & The Investigation
Kenley Matheson disappears from Acadia University in 1992. Part 1 covers his arrival on campus and the events leading up to his disappearance. Part 2 examines the initial investigation by Wolfville Police and theories surrounding his disappearance. The case goes cold in the mid-90s.

The Serial Killer & The Seeker
Part 2 examines the theory that serial killer Andrew Paul Johnson was involved in Kenley's disappearance. Part 4 goes back in time and traces Kenley's story from his Cape Breton youth to his gap years before attending Acadia University. Memories of Kenley are recollected by family and friends, including his 1991 walk with an environmental activist and his return to Cape Breton in 1992.

The Superb Meteor & The Backpack
Part 3 investigates four credible sightings of Kenley and the possibility of him still being alive. Part 6 reveals a new version of events suggesting foul play and implicating Kenley's Acadia friends, as his missing backpack suggests others were in his room following his disappearance.

The Secret & The Search
Part 4 reveals a twenty-four-year-old family secret about Kenley's murder, and private investigator Tom Martin shares the details with Kenley's family. Part 8 explores the new evidence and potential site of Kenley's remains, including a search of a ravine in Wolfville and an interview with one of the suspect's aunts.

The Obfuscator & The Missing Link
Part 5 investigates the potential killer's involvement in Kenley's disappearance through interviews and a forensic hypnotist. In Part 10, Kenley's mother meets the suspect, who denies knowing anything. The suspect's sister remembers Kenley being at their home and talking about being murdered and buried in "bear caves."
