The Bet
Milan, 1956. Ambitious young journalist Oriana Fallaci, fed up with her role as the `cinema girl', makes a bet with her editor: if she manages to interview Marilyn Monroe, she will finally have the chance to write about politics.

Waxworks
Oriana gets invited to a party full of Hollywood stars to interview them, but the actors are terrified by the press and would rather give up having fun than end up in the papers. However, she turns her failure into an opportunity.

Snowing in Hollywood
Thanks to the help of powerful producer Albert Gordon, Oriana manages to interview some of Hollywood's biggest stars. However, when she realises that her independence is at stake, she decides to leave and return home.

The Great Lover
Oriana meets Alfredo again and falls in love, but the liaison is short-lived as Alfredo is leaving for London. After interviewing Frank Sinatra, Oriana leaves the USA and convinces her editor to be sent to London to be with him.

The Orchid
Oriana slips intensely into the affair with Alfredo and ends up neglecting her work. When she finds out he is seeing someone else, she steps back, but discovers she is pregnant. To not lose him, she decides to end the pregnancy.

The Birthday
After losing her baby, Oriana goes back to her turbulent relationship with Alfredo. However, on the night of her birthday, alone and desperate, she mixes alcohol with sleeping pills without realising what is about to happen.

Girls Don't Cry
Oriana, confined in a psychiatric clinic, remembers her past as a partisan relay girl in Nazi-occupied Florence. Fed up with the institution, she manages to get discharged and return home, but something in her is broken.

Oriana goes back to work at L'Europeo and is put on the spot by Carlo, who has become the new editor. She doesn't give up and, having finally gotten rid of Alfredo, she rediscovers her voice and desire to write.

The Gilded Age
