The BBC will bring audiences a month-long festival of European football including every step of England, Wales and Northern Ireland's journeys at Euro 2016, alongside Europe's elite

Gary Lineker presents highlights from the opening game of Euro 2016, in which hosts France took on Romania at the Stade de France, Paris. The final will take place a month today in the same stadium, but before that, 50 matches will be fought out as teams strive to earn the right to be crowned European champions.

France won the tournament the last time they hosted it back in 1984, and would dearly love to repeat that feat. The man in charge of Les Bleus is Didier Deschamps, who knows what it is like to captain France to World Cup and Euros success – can he repeat that feat as a manager?
