Kuzey and Güney, like two opposing directions on the compass, are two different brothers in their characters and dreams. Guney is calm and calculated while Kuzey is wild and spontaneous. The only thing they have in common, apart from their commitment to each other, is that they have dreams that are too big to fit into the simit bakery run by their father, Sami. Kuzey wants to go into the military and become a military officer, while Güney wants to get into a good university and study towards a lucrative career in finance. When Cemre and her mother Gülten move to the neighborhood, a new chapter opens in the lives of Kuzey and Güney. The two brother become close friends with her and the threesome begin to discover love. Gülten, who does not approve of her daughter's bond with the Tekinoğlu Family, has different dreams about Cemre's future. Handan, who has gotten used to her unhappy and loveless marriage with Sami over the years, has all her dreams pinned on her older son, Güney. One day before Güney's university exams, just when Kuzey decides to declare his love for Cemre, he discovers that his brother, Güney, has just started a relationship with her. Hiding his love, trying to calm the pains of a broken heart, he quarrels with his dad and ends up drinking at a bar with his pal Ali. When Güney goes to drive him back home, he ends up driving into a passerby and killing him. Kuzey takes on the blame and goes to prison.
Four years later Kuzey returns a hardened and hurt man, to a family who feels guilt every time they see him. Meanwhile Güney is working hard at his studies and working at a posh exclusive club getting close to the Sinaner family. He is in a steady relationship with Cemre but Banu Sinaner has her eyes on him and takes every opportunity to get close to him.
