After failing to absorb Kagome's soul, Kanna retreats at Kagura's call. Later, Inuyasha rejoins Kagome and the others, but Kagome is upset after seeing him protect Kikyo. Meanwhile, Naraku sends his third incarnation, Goshinki, after them as a deadly new assassin…

Totosai takes on the task of repairing the Tetsusaiga, which was broken during the battle with Goshinki. Meanwhile, Sesshomaru takes Goshinki's fang and gives it to Kaijinbo, a swordsmith demon. Using the fang, Kaijinbo forges a cursed sword called Tokijin. Controlled by the sword's hatred, Kaijinbo attacks Inuyasha. On the night of the new moon, Inuyasha loses his demon powers and becomes human, forcing Miroku to fight and stop the crazed swordsman…
