As DI Helen Weeks grapples apprehensively with pregnancy, she is compelled to return to her loathed rural home town of Polesford, Derbyshire. Two girls have been abducted, and the man arrested is married to Helen's childhood best friend, Linda. But is he guilty? And why is Helen so desperate to come to Linda's aid after avoiding Polesford for all these years?

Episode 2
Helen and Paul are joined by pathologist friend Phil Hendricks as they become further embroiled in the abduction case. The clock is ticking to find Poppy alive and clear Bates's name, but to Paul's vexation, Helen seems increasingly disturbed by being in Polesford. Is she too distracted by pressing secrets past and present to keep her mind on the case?

Episode 3
We join a heavily pregnant Helen five months after the Polesford case. Still battling with the fallout from her infidelity, Helen's life is derailed by a gangland shooting with tragic consequence. Just days from giving birth Helen is plunged into a murder investigation involving Manchester's criminal underbelly, forcing her to question everything she holds dear.

Episode 4
Helen finds herself in more danger as the investigation pulls her further into Manchester's criminal underworld. Paranoid, vulnerable but unperturbed, she tracks down the gang responsible for the shooting - before the case throws up some shocking revelations. And can Theo cheat death as the gang continues to be hunted by a mystery gunman?
