Dalla Chiesa decides to infiltrate the organization Friar Mitra - born Silvano Girotto - a revolutionary priest. Thanks to him, the Red Brigade leaders Curcio and Franceschini are identified.Curcio e Franceschini vengono arrestati dal Nucleo, ma l'utilizzo di Frate Mitra trascina con sé molte polemiche. L'aggressione delle Brigate Rosse allo Stato non si ferma, ma anche le indagini del Nucleo. Durante l'irruzione in un covo brigatista resta ucciso un componente della squadra del generale. Curcio viene fatto evadere dal carcere dalla sua compagna di lotta, Mara Cagol, che poi cade in uno scontro a fuoco con i carabinieri.
