Ted and Marcus are celebrating their engagement with Ted's family this Christmas. Ted isn't "out" to Grandma Lin, which leads to a misunderstanding that Marcus is engaged to Ted's sister, Ella. 

Lucy and her sister Sylvie have been at odds since their Mom's sudden passing when they were kids. Now, as adults, Sylvie's home for Hanukkah and wants to spice things up.
