The sport's rise to prominence, beginning by examining how Alex `Hurricane" Higgins upset the snooker establishment to help transform a game played in the backrooms of working men's clubs into a TV ratings hit. Interest in the sport had been growing thanks to the new possibilities of colour broadcasting, and in particular the weekly snooker show Pot Black, but it was the antics of the unpredictable Ulstersman that took the game stratospheric.

Episode 2
As snooker becomes big business, Alex Higgins struggles to keep up with the professionalism of a new rising star – Steve Davis.

Episode 3
Jimmy White's off-the-table excess threatens to overshadow his raw talent, as a young Stephen Hendry emerges as a new threat to his World Championship dreams.
