On what is supposed to be detective Sarah Lund's last day of work in a Copenhagen homicide department, she gets a disturbing dispatch.

Day 2
Theis and Pernille's worst fear has come to pass. Their 19-year-old daughter is found abused and killed. Sarah postpones her move to Sweden to investigate.

Day 3
New and important clues turn up at Nanna's high school. Meanwhile, Troels is experiencing problems as confidential information is leaked. But is the leak to be found within the police, or Troels' staff?

Day 4
Sarah and Jan have located a room in the high school's basement with some disturbing evidence left behind. Troels' political career appears to be affected by the information leak.

Day 5
Sarah realizes that Nanna's friend, Lisa, was involved in more events at the high school party than she had let on to. Pernille is dealing with her grief in her own way, while Theis is struggling.

Day 6
Troels is heading for trouble after someone in his department tried to hide the fact that one of Nanna's teachers has a shady past involving a young student.

Day 7
Just as Jan is starting to think he is in charge of the investigation, Sarah returns. Pernille is falling apart because the police seem unable to prove anything.

Day 8
Sarah informs Theis and Pernille of her suspicions, and they believe the case is coming to a close - but then something inexplicable happens.

Day 9
The police are looking for Theis, who has disappeared with Rama. Sarah and Jan feel stuck in their investigation, and have 24 hours to obtain conclusive information or they will be taken off the case.

Day 10
Sarah and Jan pursue a vital new lead in their investigation. At town hall Troels attempts to establish a new alliance, but is met with fierce resistance.

Day 11
Sarah has found the apartment that Nanna had a key to - and it belongs to the Liberals. Sarah and Jan know who they're looking for, but the reactions from their superior officers are puzzling.

Day 12
Sarah and Jan interrogate Troels after he has been cautioned. Theis will do anything to stop Pernille from leaving him, but the situation has become intolerable for Pernille.

Day 13
The spotlight of the police and media is now focused on Troels Hartmann, and he feels his political career is crumbling. Meanwhile new problems arise in Sarah's private life.

Day 14
Troel's political support base has lost confidence in him. The police and Troels are convinced that Olav Kristensen knows something about Nanna's death.

Day 15
Sarah has put herself into a life-threatening situation, and no one knows where she is. At the town hall, Bremer takes steps to ruin Troels' political career once and for all.

Day 16
When Sarah and Jan's boss decided that Nanna's case is closed, Sarah isn't sure and continues her investigation alone. Pernille and Theis try to reconcile their differences.

Day 17
Sarah and Jan are convinced there is a link between Nanna's murder and a 15-year-old unsolved case. Troels Hartmann is furiously trying to win the election, and is willing to put everything on the line to do so.

Day 18
When Sarah and Jan go to an abandoned warehouse to look for evidence, they're not alone - and it has dire consequences. Pernille and Theis are trying to move on, but they can't seem to shake their past.

Day 19
The police are on the hunt for the taxi driver who has disappeared. Sarah is overwhelmed by problems in every aspect of her life. Troels and Bremer battle it out in a live TV debate.

Day 20
Sarah has been taken off the Nanna Larsen case, but continues her investigation in secret. She is sure of the identity of the perpetrator, but lacks incriminating evidence.
