Festning Norge - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Episode 1
Norway, 2037. While Europe is rocked by chaos, the country has isolated itself and lives self-sufficiently and prosperously. The biologist Esther Winter works in food supply. When contact with a salmon farming platform near Bergen breaks off, alarm bells ring for her. In front of the border walls, where thousands of refugees are waiting, British woman Uma is happy to be able to enter the country with her husband Charlie and their baby. However, a health check jeopardizes her dreams.

Episode 2
The Brit Charlie enters Norway with his daughter as a legal migrant worker. His wife Uma hopes to follow with the help of smugglers. But a military drone attacks the dinghy. Meanwhile, Esther has to give up her plans for a sabbatical with her family in Oslo. The biologist is needed: A mysterious salmon disease that supposedly comes from "outside" is endangering the food supply!

Episode 3
Esther gets caught up in a PR drama. Unprepared, she has to read out an official statement: the dangerous bacteria was brought in by refugees! Prime Minister Heyerdahl, who abuses the biologist's reputation, imposes protective measures on Bergen, further restricting the population's freedoms. The Brit Charlie now works on a plantation. He worries about his wife: there has been no sign of life since the drone attack on the refugee boat.

Episode 4
Esther doubts the "foreign" origin of the plague bacteria. Covered-up evidence points to a scandal: Was there an accident with a vaccine? With her research, the courageous biologist puts herself in danger and in the crosshairs of the Prime Minister's movement. Meanwhile, Charlie mourns the loss of his wife, who is officially listed as "Patient Zero". He narrowly escapes a deportation squad and makes his way to Esther. Charlie goes into hiding with her family to find out the truth together.

Episode 5
Esther is suspected of terrorism because she investigated on her own initiative. In the prison cell she receives an offer from the military: Esther should develop a vaccine. When the courageous biologist refuses and demands the truth, she and her family are put under pressure. Ingvild Kampfjord, the prime minister's mastermind, blames party secretary Sandberg. Charlie, in solitary confinement because of his infection, could also thwart their plans and is therefore a political risk factor that should be eliminated!

Episode 6
Esther agrees to a twisted deal to save her family. Instead of bringing the scandal to light, she is working – like a prisoner with shackles – on developing a vaccine. It's a race against time: the bacterium mutates every 48 hours and is spreading throughout Norway! Charlie survives the infection as well as an assassination attempt. What he knows is a danger to the government. A heavily armed military commando picks him up.

Episode 7
Time is running against Prime Minister Heyerdahl. People are dying, the situation is getting out of control and the bacteria is spreading unstoppably, and there is no progress with the vaccine. Heyerdahl has no other choice: Norway has to ask for outside help. The World Health Organization fears a global pandemic and Norway is now trapped behind its own wall. Esther does everything she can to find Charlie. Only with his help can the biologist defeat the bacterium - and save her now infected son Johannes.
