Druthag na Hearadh/A Little Drop of Harris - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Episode 1
First of three documentaries following the first working year of the Harris Distillery. After some delays in construction and the inevitable technical glitches, the distillery immediately starts producing Harris gin. This is followed by preparations to begin distilling their first Hearach whisky, which is the distillery's primary function. The distillery staff have all been recruited locally and are collectively known as the 'Tarbert Ten'. None of them have ever been involved in the distillery business, but are keen to prove that they are more than up to the challenge.

Episode 2
This second episode sees the opening of the distillery, with the team under pressure to fix a few technical glitches before the grand opening. Their first festive season sees the community centred around the distillery peat fire, and history is made when the first Harris whisky spirit is distilled.

Episode 3
This episode sees the team in full production of both Harris gin and Hearach whisky spirit. With visitor numbers exceeding all expectations, and sales of Harris gin hugely surpassing initial forecasts, the team are all working flat out to keep up. But it's not all taking place inside the distillery - retail manager Peter wonders where the peat used in making the whisky comes from, so one of the distillers takes him to the site of his grandfather's peat banks. As the distillate has been tweaked and optimised, the first private cask is filled by Anderson Bakewell, founder and chairman of the distillery, and soon the first year anniversary is upon them.
