Kurt Fehrenbacher, Honorarprofessor und Vorsitzender eines Vereins für Hochintelligente, verstarb nach dem Genuss einer vergifteten Zigarre. Die Kommissare Hansen und Kaya ermitteln. Seine Frau Almuth verdächtigt seinen Neffen, den Computerspezialisten Konrad Klinkhammer, da dieser den Vereinsvorsitz anstrebte. Zugleich erscheint sie selbst verdächtig, als ein Testament zugunsten der Geliebten Steffi Obermüller auftaucht. Dieses Testament hätte jedoch keine Gültigkeit gehabt, da die Fehrenbachers sich mit einem notariellen Ehegattentestament gegenseitig abgesichert hatten. Die Ermittlungen bekommen eine neue Richtung, als sich herausstellt, dass der Verstorbene gegen Geld Ergebnisse von IQ-Tests manipuliert hatte und von Klinkhammer deshalb anscheinend erpresst wurde.
Indes behauptet Frau Obermüller, dass der Tote plante, das Ehegattentestament zu kündigen. Hat Almuth Fehrenbacher die Notbremse gezogen, oder steckt doch noch jemand anderes dahinter? Frau Grasegger gräbt derweil im Schrebergarten von Annegret Nerlinger eine unbekannte Pflanze aus, die Frau Lange Hannes Winkler zum Geburtstag schenkt. Da die Bayerische Berglilie jedoch unter Naturschutz steht, müssen sowohl Nerlinger als auch Winkler ein Bußgeld berappen.
