The dead are 36-year-old Laura Finke, who did not work in the auction house or was registered as a bidder at an auction at the time of the crime. Auctioneer Simon Höflich cannot make sense of what is happening. Laura Finke was the best friend of his wife Rebecca, for whom a world collapses when she learns of Laura's death. Real estate agent Christian Finke, the husband of the murdered, is also stunned when Bernd Reuther brings him the terrible news. Reuther and Chief Commissioner Kerstin Klar are now trying to clarify who might have had a motive to take Laura Finke's life.
Soon Simon Höflich gets into trouble after Laura Finkes cell phone is found in his car. Did the auctioneer possibly have a secret affair with the victim? And what was the real friendship between Laura Finke and Rebecca Höflich? The investigation shows that Laura apparently had contact with a notorious fence. Because High Commissioner Max Fischer has to go to Hamburg for an urgent assignment, Kerstin Klar gets the reinforcement of her old friend and colleague Samira Abadi from the property offenses department. Samira and her team have been on the heiress of the mysterious hehler for a long time.
