Film buff / Steven Spielberg obsessive Dawson Leery finds his best friend Joey, growing jealous of his attraction to a newly arrived neighbors granddaughter. While his friend Pacey falls for a mystery older woman ,who in turn finds out is a new teacher at his school.

Dance
Dawson has his own taste of jealousy , as Jen accepts an invitation to a Capeside dance from Cliff ,the school Quarterback. Joey tells Mrs.Leery she knows about her affair. Pacey gets under Tamara's skin about her public flirting

Kiss
Dawson tries to manufacture the perfect romantic kiss with Jen. This while he tries to stay in the background ,working on the film class's movie.Joey is swept away by a young, wealthy ,handsome stranger.Pacey takes the next step with Tamara.

Discovery
Dawson finds out about his mothers affair, then discovers Joey knew about it. He then turns to Jen, but soon regrets doing so after she tells him some of her past.Pacey and Tamara continue to see each other.

Hurricane
As a major hurricane moves inland towards Capeside, everyone takes refuge at the Leery House.With tensions already high, the flames are fanned when Mitch learns of Gale's affair.Dawson takes his emotions out on Joey and Jen.Elsewhere Pacey tries to sabotage his brother's , Deputy Doug's moves on Tamara.

Baby
Capeside is abuzz with rumors of a teacher's indiscretion, rumors that prove fateful for Pacey and Tamera. Meanwhile, Joey and Jen get a life lesson when Bessie is aided by an unlikely source when she gives birth in Dawson's living room.

Detention
In what is said to be one of the best episodes, the gang, after committing various violations at school, gets stuck together for an 8 hour Saturday detention, where Dawson and Pacey turn against each another; and Joey offers a tearful partial explanation for her anger toward Jen.

Boyfriend
Jen is surprised by a visit from Billy, an ex from her NYC days.That leaves Dawson wondering exactly where he stands with her.Joey has a few extra drinks at a beach party that ends with a Dawson kiss.Mitch and Gale feel the tension as they try to rebuild their own marriage.

Roadtrip
Looking to cause trouble, Billy takes Dawson and Pacey on a boys night out. As Dawson tries to put Jen to one side, he meets another woman. Back at school Joey becomes the subject of a nasty rumor and Jen tries to help her with payback.

Double Date
In an unlikely move to prove they can still remain friends Dawson and an unwitting sidekick go on a double date with Jen and Cliff. While working on a school project together Pacey grows closer to Joey, much to Dawson's confusion.

The Scare
Friday the 13th is a traditional time for Dawson to try to scare the life out of his friends and this year he plans a seance.News reports of The LadyKiller ,a serial killer possibly heading towards Capeside add to the tension. Jen starts to receive letters and a phone call that go beyond a harmless prank.

Beauty Contest
Joey and Pacey enter a beauty competition; Jen regrets her breakup with Dawson.

Decisions
Joey debates leaving for France to study for a semester. Then goes to see her father in prison. This makes Dawson finally act on his feelings for Joey.Jen is hit hard by a family loss.

The Gilded Age

Family Law
