Dark Land: Hunting the Killers - Season 2

Season 2

Episodes

The Child Who Never Came Home
Cardiff schoolgirl Joyce Cox was only four years old when her body was discovered along a railway line, just a few hundred yards from her home in Whitchurch. For over 80 years, her story has been lost to history: lost to everyone but her family, who remain devastated and torn apart by her death. Can the Dark Land team help identify a potential suspect to present to the police?
Despite the passage of time, new evidence comes to light that might finally solve the case, as the last person to be with Joyce before she met her killer talks for the first time about that fateful day.

The Girl in the Carpet
The Dark Land team revisit the case of Karen Price, a fifteen-year-old girl who disappeared after running away from care. Wrapped in a carpet and entombed in concrete in a Cardiff back garden, her murdered body lay undiscovered for eight years.
Karen's skeletal remains were eventually discovered by builders, but detectives were unable to identify her. In a murder investigation first, police turned to forensic artist Richard Neave who worked with Karen's skull to create a clay bust of what her face may have looked like. Following a TV appeal, Karen was identified within days and her killer caught within weeks.

The Body in Bags
In spring 1991, bagged-up body parts began appearing in roadside lay-bys across Gwent. At a loss to identify the victim, detectives set about using new forensic techniques and a pioneering series of appeals to the press to identify them.
The victim would be named as Clive Tully, a 25-year-old backpacker from New Zealand. His killer was a man he had befriended, a convicted killer called Malcolm Green.
The Dark Land team re-examine this case of a killer released to kill again.

Danny Dyke
Danny Dyke led a double life. By day, he worked part-time for Aberavon rugby club, but they had no idea he was also acting as a drug courier between London and Swansea, and was involved with drug gangs in both cities.
When he went missing, the rumour was that he had been murdered, but where was his body? A burnt-out car was found, but no sign of Danny Dyke.
A remarkable chain of events lead the police to a bleak hillside near Swansea, and a fragment of bone becomes key in the investigation.

Suzanne Greenhill
The Dark Land team re-examine the murder of Suzanne Greenhill, a vibrant 20-year-old deaf woman from Newport. In 1988 she was found murdered at home, her body ghoulishly staged to represent the cover of an Iron Maiden heavy metal album cover. What followed has gone down in history as one of the most unique murder investigations in policing history. Detectives had to work closely with the deaf community to uncover the identity of Suzanne's killer. Pioneering forensic techniques were used to secure his conviction.

Blaenavon
During the Easter holiday of 1972, Blaenavon awoke to the news of a brutal double murder. Following last orders at The Rifleman's Arms, two local men made the short walk from the pub to one of their homes. In a seemingly unprovoked attack, both were bludgeoned to death with a coal pick, the house turned into a blood bath. The killer was never caught and 50 years later, the murder remains unsolved. Yet what clues remain in the community today that may lead to the murderer being identified? The Dark Land team re-examines the case.
