A year after their lives collided on an outback road, retired Australian detective Jack Darby and English widowed nurse Joan Kirkhope have forged a deep friendship amid shared investigative adventures. But Jack's story has only just begun – he's determined to clear his name of the unexplained cloud hanging over his career. Despite the potential danger – or perhaps because of it – Joan insists on helping Jack with his quest. As they travel through Queensland's picturesque landscapes solving mysteries along the way, Jack and Joan's relationship with be tested. Episode 1
The search for answers about Jack's past leads him and Joan into the path of two warring brothers whose fight over the family farm escalates when one of the brothers is injured in a suspicious fall.

Episode 2
In a small surfing town, Jack and Joan come to the aid of a victim of a hit-and-run, local nurse Gillian. When they learn she has been implicated in a series of suspicious deaths at the hospital, they realize many people may have wanted her dead.

Episode 3
Joan's estranged sister, Max, invites her and Jack to an island resort, but when a guest is kidnapped, the sisters must work together to find him.

Episode 4
Jack and Joan's stay at a winery is interrupted when a fire breaks out and nearly kills an employee. At first, it looks like an act of sabotage by one of the feuding owners, but then another near-fatal incident occurs.

Episode 5
Max reveals that she's engaged to a man she just met, but when he collapses during a night of drinks, Jack and Joan suspect that someone tried to poison him.

Episode 6
After receiving a mysterious clue to the location of the gun that can clear Jack's name, he and Joan race to its remote hiding spot. But they are hotly pursued, and Jack and Liz suspect someone close to home is behind everything.
