A bounty hunter captures Jason and informs him that a private individual has put out a reward for the Coward of Bitter Creek. After Jason gets the drop on his captor, he poses as a bounty hunter to find out who wants him.

Jason takes a stand against men trying to force a widow off of her husband's land.

When most of a town's men go to check out a silver mine, bandits hit the town and the remaining deputy turns to Lucas for help.

Jason seeks out the father and brother of the first man that he killed, a Confederate soldier at the Battle of Fredricksburg.

The widow of a soldier who died at Bitter Creek has no choice but to turn to Jason for help saving her land during a legal dispute.

One Way Out
A demented preacher lures Jason to a ghost town to exact revenge for his son, who died at Bitter Creek.

That the Brave Endure
A military cadet, Richard Bain, challenges the popular view that Jason was a coward at Bitter Creek, and is expelled when he refuses to recant. He ends up working for Jason and demands to know why Jason is covering up the truth.

Taste of Poison
Jason and the doctor that he's escorting, Dr. Evelyn Cole, take refuge at a way station near a well that they suspect Indians have poisoned.

Price of a Name
Lucy Benson hires Jason to help develop her town, but the townspeople soon make it clear that Jason isn't wanted there.
